Bedroom, check!

The bedroom is finished! Granted, the bedroom was not as big of a project as the living room, but it's a check mark on my list! Last Saturday, we had some great friends help us get our new furniture assembled.

Jeff drove up from Irvine, and Jonathan (Jacob's brother) came over and they (with Jacob) spent 7 hours doing this. I think it was mostly spent assembly drawers. Joshua joined them in their assembling in the evening, after picking up me and his fiance in LA where our car had broken down. What a great blessing to have these people willing to give up their time to help us out!

Here are a couple shots of the newly assembled furniture in the bedroom. I wish I had some "before" shots to show you, but I find I don't take a lot of pictures of the bedroom... You'll have to picture it with a queen size bed (the new one is a king), no headboard, two mismatched beat-up dressers, and an end table (complete with phone books used to prop up Jacob's small fan).

I LOVE the new furniture. The storage space in the headboard is awesome, we have TONS of drawers (as our assembly help will testify), since there are drawers under the bed, too. Eventually (by which I mean, sometime between now and Miss Bean's birth), there will be a glider rocker in a matching wood stain which replaces the recliner. And, somewhere, there will also be a bassinet beside the bed, probably on the opposite side of the glider. Not a lot of room for a bassinet, but it's a very temporary piece of furniture.

We move ever closer to reducing the chaos in the house and restoring order! Which I'm sure will last just about 2 days, until the baby is born. :)

  1. It looks SO nice! Yay for good friends and congrats on getting one step closer to normalcy. It's best to get as close to that as possible before Miss Bean arrives. Can't wait to meet her!
