Yes, I know that technically, the painting is "finished." But there is something extraordinarily satisfying is saying (with a head bob for emphasis) "It's DONE."
Really, I kind of gave up hope that the painting would ever be complete. It's like the never-ending story. But all that is behind us now, and we can move on in the project. Jacob will run wires and set up speakers and install the TV mount and do all sorts of other technical and manly type things. My job will be to take our chaotic office space and find a place for all the random items on our new shelves. How wonderful it will be to see it all come together.
You know the other really great thing about painting being DONE? The plastic drop cloths, which were starting to set up a permanent home in our living room, are gone! And that means we can vacuum all the dust and debris off the carpet that has been accumulating for six weeks! What a refreshing thing a newly-vacuumed floor is. There is something so right with the world when you walk into a room with those neat little vacuum lines on the carpet.

Okay - Enough basking in living room. On to the nursery!
The built-in bookcases look great! Did Jacob build them?
ReplyDeleteWe hired a friend from church who is a contractor to come in and work with Jacob to build them, so yes and no. Jacob certainly did a lot of the labor, but we did have some expert help along the way.
