We went to Utah last week. :) Many, many pictures coming soon to a facebook page near you, but in the meantime, here's how it went...
We learned on the drive there that early mornings and a big cup of apple juice do not mix. Results? Sad and tired baby in fresh clothes.
Our condo was absolutely stunning. A HUGE thank you to Jacob's grandmother for the opportunity to stay here. I think it was bigger than our house. No joke.
We visited Zion National Park. We discovered an infestation of FUZZY, CREEPY CATERPILLARS everywhere around the visitor's center. I feared they had taken over the park, but we later learned it was a localized plague. Every tree around the visitor's center looked like this (above), and all those white "bulbs" on the branches are actually sacs FILLED with the vile creatures... and they fall out of the trees like rain onto your head. I just about had a heart attack. It makes me all twitchy just thinking about it.
We did get to enjoy the rest of the park, sans caterpillars, and made many good family memories.
The guys hiked from the canyon floor to the rim, and the girls stayed home at the condo.
Jacob and I made a day trip to Bryce Canyon (3 hours away), and it was totally worth it. WOW.
My mom (who is afraid of heights) and dad hiked Angel's Landing... where you have to use chains to climb next to very steep drop offs. They're crazy.
Lucy had three loves this trip: Walking on retaining walls...
...playing with water ...
...and collecting all rocks in sight. We're surprised she didn't totally rearrange Utah's geology.
We... especially Lucy and Nana... also spent MANY hours in our private jacuzzi (did I mention how awesome our condo was?). Its temperature was programmable, so we could make it cool enough to be safe for Lucy and Pip.
And we ended the trip by having ice cream drumsticks for breakfast out on our private patio before heading home. :)
It was a great trip.
It was a great trip.
