Two Months Old

Lucy is two months old today!

I took Lucy to her two-month well-baby doctor's appointment this morning, and was so grateful that Aunt Amanda took time out of her day to come with us. Aunt Amanda put on her nurse hat and helped hold Lucy during her vaccinations... because Lucy's mom is a weenie when it comes to needles.

It was (predictably) hard to see Lucy get her shots and hear her cry, but all in all, it was not overly traumatic. She got three shots, and the nurse was so quick, I swear it only took about 10 seconds. Lucy cried for about five minutes after it was over, and then she seemed to be just fine.

Lucy also got weighed and measured at the appointment. She is now 11 pounds, 8.8 ounces, so she has gained four pounds (while she was 8 lb, 1.6 oz when she was born, she then dropped down to 7 lb, 8 oz by her three-day doctor visit, a very normal weight loss). This is apparently just a little over the average for weight.

While Lucy's weight may only be slightly above average, she ranked a whopping 95th percentile in length, measuring 24.5 inches! No wonder we frequently hear comments about how long she is. :) She must be Jacob's daughter. By the by, if anyone is wondering Lucy's clothing size, she is pretty solidly in 3-6 months at this point... unless it's Gerber. For some unknown reason, Gerber runs on a totally different clothing measurement system, apparently appealing to parents with incredibly tiny children...

Ahem... er.... Sorry for that bunny trail.... back on track now...

Lucy got a clean bill of health from the doctor after patiently enduring squeezing, prodding, rolling over, and a cold stethoscope. Both the nurse and the doctor complimented her nicely round head... which I think is high praise in baby-land, but made me smirk a little to think about paying that compliment to an adult. ;)

What a blessing a healthy and growing baby is!
