Yesterday, Lucy decided to make some adjustments to her front teeth. Unfortunately, she discovered that a tile floor is a poor choice as tooth-adjusting implements go. This was the result...
Well, that, and a trip to the dentist. Unfortunately, we didn't get a real definitive answer from the dentist. He looked briefly at the tooth, couldn't see any obvious signs of the nerve being exposed, and told us to keep our eye on it for a few days. She's too young at this point to do any type of dental work on the tooth without sedation, so unless the tooth is hurting her, we'll just leave things as they are for a while until she's old enough to know how to sit still in a dentist's chair.
While we didn't get a firm answer from the dentist, we DID come away with this awesome, giant balloon. Lucy was thrilled. :)
After we came home, Lucy seemed to be bothered a little more by the tooth when eating, so now I'm thinking we might visit a pediatric dentist (ours is a family dentist who doesn't usually see kids until they are at least 3 years old), so if you have a pediatric dentist that you just love, let me know!
Between now and then, we'll be doing our best to avoid any more floor-induced injuries. ;)
Speaking of the floor...
Lucy has now slept her in "big girl bed" for 3 nights, and 2 nap times. The first night, we were such nervous parents that neither Jacob nor I slept well for worrying about Lucy. We checked on her before going to bed ourselves... she was still in the bed, so that was good, and fast asleep (even better!). She was quiet during the night, so that was good. Jacob checked on her at 5:00 when he got up for work... and she was on the floor. Fast asleep, but nevertheless, on the floor. Hmmmmmm. It's a good thing they make these toddler beds so short. So we scooped her up and put her back in bed, wondering at the time how well this new bed was going to work.
Since then, however, she's managed to keep herself off the floor (at least during sleeping time), so I'm back to being optimistic.
Lucy LOVES her new bed, by the way. For some reason, I thought this might be a traumatic experience for her, that she wouldn't want to move from the crib. Turns out, she just about can't stop grinning about the whole thing, and gets SUPER excited to run back to her bedroom and show off her new bed to any and all who will come look. It's sure fun to see her so animated, and helps make the transition a little easier. :D She even "helped" Daddad and Daddy build her new bed!
Our little girl is getting so big!
