Update
7 cm now, 90% effaced. Sarah spent the last 2-3 hours going between the birthing ball and rocking chair, and is now standing, leaning on the bed. We're hoping gravity will be our ally these last few cm! Joy just arrived, and it's good to have a fresh encourager at the bedside. Shift change in 30 minutes; Sarah has seen the next midwife before, so it will be good to have a familiar face. Keep praying; the contractions are hard and fast now.

***Update from the eager family members outside*** Still at 7 cm, very intense contractions. They are going to re-evaluate to see if Sarah will progress on her own, or will need the aid of pitocin. Sarah's very tired, but pressing onward!
ReplyDelete***Update from Family*** The doctors found that only one of two water sacs had broken to this point, so they have now broken the second, hoping this will move things along. We'll know more in an hour or two. The pain is very intense, so please pray.
ReplyDelete***Update from Family*** Labor has slowed down; the four hours of contractions with the non-ruptured sac were pretty hard on Sarah. They are currently talking about options for getting baby Ailes here soon, including pitosin. Pray that Sarah will be re-strengthened, and that contractions will pick back up and be more progressive. Baby Ailes is doing fine; she has a strong heart beat and is responsive to the contractions.
ReplyDelete***Update from Family*** There's been some progress! We're (well, Sarah is) up to 8 cm and is experiencing a desire to push. Pray! It's still very painful for Sarah, and there were a lot of unproductive contractions earlier, so fatigue is a major factor.
ReplyDeleteSarah is having strong contractions every three minutes and is almost going to start pushing. These are good signs. The clan in the waiting room are playing cards and getting restless. Keep praying for Sarah and Baby!

ReplyDeleteThere is a baby! She is 2 minutes old (1:38pm), pink and beautiful!!! The report is that Sarah was amazing. We haven't gotten to see her yet.
